July 4th is one of the busiest weekends in the mountains. Here is how to plan your pizza orders around the fireworks and lake celebrations.

Independence Day weekend in the North Georgia Mountains means full cabins, crowded lakes, and fireworks displays over Lake Nottely and Lake Chatuge. It also means pizza restaurants operating at peak capacity with limited delivery availability.

Order by noon for evening pickup. The most successful strategy for July 4th pizza is to place your order in the early afternoon for a scheduled pickup time in the evening. Most restaurants will accommodate this if you call ahead. The kitchen can prepare your order during the afternoon lull before the dinner rush begins.

Pickup is the only reliable option on July 4th. Delivery drivers cannot cover the volume on Independence Day. Restaurants often stop taking delivery orders once they reach capacity. Plan to pick up your pizza yourself or have a non-driving member of your group handle the pickup.

Check fireworks timing before you order. Lake Nottely's fireworks typically start around 9:30 PM. Lake Chatuge's are similar. Time your pizza pickup so you can eat before the fireworks or order cold pizza for after — pizza is excellent cold, and July 4th is a good excuse to enjoy it that way.
