Summer is the second-busiest season in the North Georgia Mountains, trailing only October leaf season. The lake crowds arrive in June and stay through Labor Day, filling cabins along Lake Nottely, Lake Chatuge, and the Toccoa River. Pizza restaurants adjust their hours and staffing to match the seasonal demand.
Weekends are the busiest time. Summer weekends see the heaviest traffic, especially around holiday weekends (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day). If you are staying at a lake rental for a week, plan your restaurant meals for Sunday through Thursday and cook at the cabin on Friday and Saturday nights if possible.
Delivery to lake cabins is limited. Many pizza restaurants will not deliver to lakefront properties because the roads are narrow, the driveways are long, and the addresses are hard to find at night. Call the restaurant directly to ask about delivery to your specific location. Some restaurants have a map of where they will and will not go.
Takeout is the most reliable option. Most pizza restaurants in Blairsville, Hiawassee, and Blue Ridge have efficient takeout operations. Call your order in 45 minutes before you want to eat, pick it up, and bring it back to the cabin. This avoids the wait times and the delivery uncertainty.
Summer hours are generally consistent. Unlike the winter off-season, most mountain restaurants maintain full hours during the summer. The caveat is that they may close earlier on Sundays and Mondays when the weekend crowd has left and the weekday traffic has not yet arrived.
